Final Verdict: Review of Good2Go

Good2Go car insurance costs more than standard coverage since it’s high-risk insurance, but rates are often lower than its competitors. It also offers a long list of discounts to reduce your rates even further.

High-risk drivers can qualify for low rates on liability and full coverage policy, but the company doesn’t offer any other kind of car insurance.

Unfortunately, low rates don’t come with great customer service. Good2Go auto insurance reviews complain about the company’s slow response time and general unavailability of its agents. It also has poor financial ratings, and many of its underwriting partners face financial and legal troubles in numerous states.

If low rates on liability-only policies are all you’re looking for, Good2Go is a competitive option. However, if you want more from an auto insurance company, we recommend comparing quotes from other local companies.

You might have difficulty finding affordable auto insurance if you're a high-risk driver. Unfortunately, not all companies offer high-risk coverage, and you’ll pay higher rates with non-standard insurers until your driving record clears up. That's where Good2Go auto insurance comes in. Good2Go sells cheap high-risk auto insurance to drivers who need liability coverage but have difficulty qualifying for a policy with most companies.

What You Should Know About Good2Go

Good2Go has spent the last 25 years offering policies for high-risk drivers who can’t find coverage elsewhere. The company started when these six smaller insurers combined under one brand:

  • American Independent Insurance Company (AIIC)
  • Apollo Casualty Company
  • Bankers Independent Insurance Company
  • Omni Insurance Company
  • Omni Indemnity Company
  • Personal Service Insurance Company

Despite low monthly rates and convenient high-risk coverage, Good2Go isn’t the best auto insurance company. It remains unrated by A.M. Best since opting out of the program in 2017. Before then, its financial ratings were poor, meaning you risk never receiving a payout for a claim.

The company partners with different underwriting insurers in states where coverage is available. A few are financially strong and highly-rated companies, including Titan Insurance, The General, and Progressive.

Unfortunately, the other half of its underwriters are rated poorly, and insurance regulators in three states found faulty business practices among some companies working with Good2Go.

Delaware regulators found the AIIC, which underwrites Good2Go in the state, wasn’t compliant with local insurance laws. For example, AIIC doesn’t have an internal audit program for Good2Go insurance claims handling, nor is the staff properly trained per state law.

This kind of disregard for regulation explains why Good2Go has extremely poor customer satisfaction, especially regarding claims handling. Its complaint ratio is 23.76, meaning customers are nearly 24% more likely to have a negative experience than with other companies.

Terrible customer service like this reflects poorly on a company that otherwise offers competitive high-risk auto insurance and discounts.

Good2Go Insurance Coverage Options

Good2Go auto insurance specializes in affordable coverage for high-risk drivers who don’t qualify with standard companies.

It offers competitive liability-only policies but lacks the suite of car insurance products you see with most companies. For example, you won’t find common add-ons like GAP insurance, roadside assistance, accident forgiveness, or rental reimbursement at Good2Go.

However, if you only need barebones coverage to meet state or auto loan requirements, Good2Go car insurance is an affordable option. The company also files SR-22 insurance for high-risk drivers who need it.

Good2Go High-Risk Auto Insurance

High-risk drivers pay more for car insurance and could have difficulty buying a policy from standard companies. The reason rates are higher is that the cost to insure a high-risk driver is often too expensive based on their likelihood of filing a claim or defaulting on insurance payments.

You might be a high-risk driver if you:

  • Have multiple traffic violations on your record
  • Have a DUI on your record
  • Filed multiple claims
  • Are a newly-licensed driver
  • Got caught driving without insurance
  • Have poor credit

If any of the above applies to you, consider comparing auto insurance quotes from Good2Go.

High-risk auto insurance rates are more expensive than average, and your current company can refuse to renew your policy if you’re too risky to insure after an accident or ticketable offense.

Likewise, not every insurance company will file SR-22 insurance if you need to reinstate your driver’s license. However, Good2Go will file SR-22 and help high-risk drivers meet minimum insurance requirements by offering low rates.

On average, Good2Go insurance is very affordable. Choose the level of coverage you need and compare Good2Go insurance quotes before you buy. Use the tables below to compare Good2Go auto insurance rates against other top companies.

Good2Go Insurance Rates Breakdown

Good2Go Liability Auto Insurance Rates

Good2Go’s strength is its liability-only policy. Almost every state requires liability car insurance, which protects other drivers from accidents they didn’t cause. It’s the least amount of coverage you can carry to drive legally and comes with the cheapest monthly rates.

Good2Go offers very competitive rates for liability car insurance.

Good2Go Full Coverage Auto Insurance Rates

Does Good2Go sell full coverage? Yes, high-risk drivers can buy full coverage car insurance from Good2Go at pretty affordable rates.

Full coverage auto insurance includes liability along with collision car insurance and comprehensive coverage. This kind of car insurance pays for personal damages and injuries in all covered incidents and any damage you cause to others in an at-fault accident.

Rates double if you want full coverage, especially as a high-risk driver, so compare quotes carefully before you buy.

Good2Go full coverage insurance rates are less than the national average for high-risk insurance. However, don’t let the cost of Good2Go be your only determining factor. You’ll find much better customer service with any other company on this list, which is important if you have questions about your coverage or need to file a claim.

Good2Go insurance costs more than standard coverage but still provides competitive rates for high-risk coverage. The company uses the following factors to determine annual rates:

  • Age
  • Credit score
  • Driving record
  • Coverage level
  • Gender
  • Marital status
  • Vehicle make and model
  • ZIP code

Other personal variables can impact your auto insurance rates, so it’s best to compare your Good2Go car insurance quotes against other local companies in your area.

We compared Good2Go high-risk auto insurance for teen drivers, drivers with accidents and DUIs, and drivers with poor credit. These drivers typically pay more for auto insurance, so use the tables below to find the most affordable auto insurance company based on your age and driving record.

Good2Go Auto Insurance Rates for Teen Drivers

Since they lack driving experience, teens pay higher rates with every company. Teen males pay the highest rates and won’t see their rates drop until they turn 25.

Monthly Full Coverage Teen Auto Insurance Rates for the Top Insurance Companies
Insurance Company16-Year-Old Male With a Clean Record16-Year-Old Female With a Clean Record

Nationwide$476$411
Progressive$814$801
State Farm$349$311
Travelers$897$709
National Average$610$558

Good2Go car insurance rates aren’t the lowest for teen drivers. COMPANY and COMPANY offer better teen rates and superior customer service, making each a better option for new drivers than Good2Go.

Good2Go Auto Insurance for Young Adult Drivers

Young adult drivers pay lower rates once they turn 25, but your rates will remain high if you have speeding tickets or an accident on your record. Good2Go offers competitive rates to high-risk young adults but isn’t the cheapest on this list.

Average Full Coverage Monthly Rates for 25-Year-Olds with the Top Insurance Companies

Liberty Mutual$215$188
Nationwide$150$136
Progressive$146$140
State Farm$111$100
U.S. Average$150$138

Male drivers continue to pay more than women with Good2Go and other companies, but COMPANY offers the lowest quotes for both drivers.

Good2Go Auto Insurance for Adult Drivers

Rates continue to drop for adults between 30 and 50, and older adults may not see their rates rise as high after an accident or traffic violation if they kept their driving records clean when younger.

Good2Go insurance rates are around average for adult high-risk drivers but may be higher in states requiring more minimum coverage. We recommend comparing Good2Go auto insurance quotes against other local companies to see if you can’t find better rates.

Good2Go Auto Insurance for Senior Drivers

Senior auto insurance rates start to go up after drivers turn 70. The good news is that rates never go up quite as high as teen insurance rates.

Again, Good2Go insurance rates are around average for seniors. However, you’ll likely find better rates and customer service with another company on this list, so compare quotes carefully before you buy.

Good2Go Auto Insurance for Drivers With Poor Credit

A poor credit score can increase your risk as a driver because companies assume you’re less likely to pay auto insurance bills on time and more likely to file a claim. Fortunately, your rates will decrease once your credit score improves.

Average Monthly Full Coverage Auto Insurance Rates by Credit Rating
Insurance CompanyRates with Poor CreditRates with Fair CreditRates with Good Credit
Geico$148$100$82
Nationwide$165$132$120

American Family$203$136$116

Farmers$269$161$139
Allstate$296$196$166
Liberty Mutual$357$226$176
National Average$226$148$123

Good2Go advertises that it offers low rates to drivers with poor credit, but annual quotes are still higher than average. We recommend comparing quotes from other insurance companies that don’t check credit scores before buying a Good2Go policy.

Good2Go Auto Insurance for After an Accident

Having one or more accidents on your record automatically makes you a high-risk driver. Depending on your insurance company, your rates could double or triple after your first at-fault accident.

Average Monthly Rates for the Top Insurance Companies for Drivers with an Accident
Insurance CompanyRates with an Accident
Allstate$237

Farmers$198
Geico$132
Liberty Mutual$236
Nationwide$165
Progressive$190
State Farm$107
Travelers$157
Average$176

Good2Go charges more than the monthly average after an accident. Geico charges less, but rates increase more after an accident than with Good2Go.

However, Good2Go doesn’t offer accident forgiveness, an insurance perk that won’t raise rates after your first accident. Allstate and Nationwide offer better rates with accident forgiveness.

Read our guide on how car insurance rates change after an accident to learn more and find the right coverage.

Good2Go Auto Insurance for After a Speeding Ticket

Minor traffic violations won’t raise your rates, but speeding tickets and reckless driving charges can put you in the high-risk category. If you have multiple speeding violations, you may be unable to find standard insurance, making Good2Go a viable coverage option.

Average Monthly Rates for the Top Insurance Companies for Drivers with a Traffic Ticket
Insurance CompanyRates with a TicketRates with a Clean Record

Average$152$123

Good2Go car insurance rates after a ticket are higher the national average. Still, many of the companies on this list will drop your policy if you’re facing multiple speeding offenses — Good2Go won’t.

Good2Go Auto Insurance With a DUI

One DUI offense risks your driver’s license, auto insurance policy, and can raise your rates by over 70%. If you lost your car insurance after a drunk driving accident, compare quotes below and read our guide on how to get auto insurance after a DUI.

Average Monthly Rates for the Top Insurance Companies After a DUI

Good2Go offers affordable auto insurance after a DUI, with average monthly rates right around the national average. Rates also won’t increase as much after a DUI as with other companies, like Geico.

Though Good2Go offers competitive rates for DUI insurance, you can still find cheap car insurance rates with better customer service from other local companies. Compare quotes from at least three different auto insurance companies accepting DUIs to find the best rates for your budget.

Good2Go Discounts Available

How Good2Go Ranks Among Providers

After comparing Good2Go auto insurance rates, policy options, and discounts to multiple companies, we found that these insurers offer better customer service and more coverage options to high-risk drivers:

  • The General auto insurance. The General’s high-risk insurance is available in all 50 states at very competitive rates. It has a high NAIC complaint ratio of 5.86, but its customer service still ranks higher than Good2Go.
  • Direct Auto. Direct Auto sells high-risk auto and life insurance, allowing policyholders to qualify for multi-policy discounts among its 16 other discount offers. Its NAIC complaint ratio is 3.44.
  • SafeAuto. This high-risk insurer offers a mobile app for convenient bill pay, claims handling, and competitive rates. Its NAIC complaint ratio is 2.66.
  • Dairyland auto insurance. This company is a better option for high-risk drivers who need additional coverage options, including GAP insurance, roadside assistance, and rental reimbursement. Its NAIC complaint ratio is 2.69.
  • Geico auto insurance. Geico offers the most affordable insurance across all demographics and files SR-22 insurance for high-risk drivers. Its NAIC ratio is 1.52.
  • State Farm auto insurance. Rather than shopping with a high-risk company, State Farm offers more competitive rates for teen drivers and college students. It also receives half the customer complaints of other insurers, with a complaint ratio of .52.

Geico and State Farm may offer cheap car insurance rates, but they’re not sub-standard insurers. Depending on your driving record, you may not qualify for a policy with either company. So, it’s important to research your options for high-risk auto insurance and compare rates from multiple companies before buying a policy.
